Window Washing

The other day, I got my three year-old, Sadie, involved in washing the windows with me.  It brings her great joy to help with the chores, whether it's laundry, dishes, floors, dusting, you name it.  If she can help me, she's happy!  This was the first time I had her help me wash the windows, and as with any first, it brings a mama great joy to watch her child grinning from ear to ear as she is experiencing something fresh and new to the senses.  I passed her the small cloth, just her size, and a spray bottle all her own.  You'd have thought I just handed her a million dollars (if she'd been an adult, that is).  She was in heaven!  Just seeing the spray splash the windows, all at the expense of her tiny little hands. You could tell she felt powerful and important.  It gave me some insight to see my little daughter filled to the brim with joy as she completed such a simple, mundane task for which we adults have lost the taste.  As I thought about it some more later, it occurred to me just how big of a deal it is for us as God's children to know our purpose in God's family business.  When we know just how valuable we are, and that we're important to Him, working alongside Him, it not only brings Him joy, but we also find pleasure in being used by Him as well.  It's a marvelous place of peace to be walking in.  Not only was she happy, but she felt loved in knowing that she had a purpose in working with me, doing something so independently, yet alongside me.  "I love you, Mommy.  I love you, Titus," she said while she wiped the little glass squares over and over again.  Her cup was filled up and spilling over.  Finally we were done with the back door windows, which is all of what I set out to do, and ready to move on to something else.  But Sadie, she could have washed all of the windows in the whole house if I let her.  Who needs dolls, t.v, and "real" toys, when you have real-life adventures like helping Mommy? :)  I pray you find your adventure and purpose in being about your Father's business, too! May your cup overflow from His love for you today!
