Peanut Butter and Jesus
Lately, this phrase has been "stuck" in my mind. Peanut Butter and Jesus. Just about every mom is more familiar with peanut butter than she probably ever cared to be. Being a mom often feels likes a sticky glump of mess anyways. But...truthfully, in my experience, when I allow my heart for Jesus to flow and fully take over, this life gets so much sweeter, even in the midst of the mess! The other day, while doing yet ANOTHER load of dishes, I was unloading the washer with some praise music flowing from my iHome. "See His Love" by Jesus Culture. Wow, what a powerful song! It swept me away, and the next thing you know, between the drippy tupperware and silverware, I swooped up my one year-old into my arms while singing at the top of my lungs. It was amazing! I was moved to tears by His Presence, and through the lyrics I found myself praying for my brother. Peanut Butter and Jesus. You see, you can't get by without doing the endless cycle of dishes in your home. No matter how much you want them to go away, they pop up dirty in the sink every time. Why get bitter about it? I've decided, why not just accept the mess, and free myself to dance before the Lord with my baby in my arms. The dishes can wait. Jesus is waiting. Earth-shaking dish-washing. Who knew!?
