These trees tell a story
They've seen time or two
Faithfully they stand watch
Like iron soldiers do
Beautiful to be gazed upon
Humbly showering us with shade
Thinking about their yesterdays
Their memories never fade
Their roots dig deep into the ground
Their branches touch the sky
They wonder at the friends who've gone
At how time travels by
Their innocence stands still and strong
Their purity shines bright
With all the changes happening 'round
To earth they cling so tight
If only I could be like a tree
I'd stand my ground in grace
And reach my arms up to the clouds
Strengthened by heaven's embrace
People ever rushing by
Fearful of all, push and shove
Not me, as a tree, I will peacefully be
Free in the winds of His love
